Type: Site Analysis Location: Chicago - Loop The site of analysis for my study was the steps of the Art Institute of Chicago. My observation began with a methodology of exhausting the place, in which I took notes on anything and everything that came to my attention during the my stay. The meter for timing my observation was the duration of my cup of coffee. From there, I choose to represent these notes in a visual manner where slices of images begin to tell the story, but serve as short hand similar to the way a court reporter takes notes. In the same manner, one can begin to see patterns and rhythms. From there, I took a fresh look at my analysis by grouping my notes by image to see frequencies, and then further analyzing the information by comparing relationships between groupings. |
