My Background
A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Jeremy is an emerging architect with a passion for the designed experience: spaces that leave a lasting impression on those who inhabit them.
With experience in high-end residential, large scale public projects, and commercial interiors, Jeremy’s true interests lie at the intersection of the three: hospitality design. When designed well, these shared places such as hotels, restaurants and coworking spaces leave a lasting impact. This interest was developed over time with experience at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Partners by Design, Ross Barney Architects and Vladimir Radutny Architects. Jeremy is also dedicated to advancing the profession, and as such serves on the AIA Chicago Board of Directors. He has worked to redefine what it means to be an emerging professional by serving on various other Boards of Directors at the State and National level with AIA as well as with the American Institute of Architecture Students. Outside of the professional realm, he enjoys traveling, crafting cocktails and spending time with family. When faced with some COVID-19 induced downtime, he published In Good Spirits - a cocktail book, and launched From the Window Seat - a new type of travel blog. |
My Philosophy
Running the gamut from large scale infrastructure and master planning to hospitality interiors and designed objects, my experience represents a range of interests, passions and scales. While showcasing this gradient of experience from Public to Personal, it is important too to understand the context within which each exists: the trajectory from high end residential to public projects, then to commercial interiors before finding a happy balance and passion for hospitality work.
At first glance, the connection from project to project may not always be clear, for many of us, but the common thread running through them all, for me, is an understanding that the experience of a space matters. Architecture is at it’s best when it is about more than just a unique form for the sake of being unique or using of an advanced technology without impact. A truly special place begins by providing inhabitants with a meaningful, and thoughtful, experience that feels authentic, hospitable, and inviting. These spaces promote hospitality, serve as a home for crucial dialogue, and connect us all in deeper ways.
I firmly believe that as architects and designers, we have a duty to speak up, to listen intently, and to respond without preconceptions. It is crucial that we strive to think bigger, to look ahead and to continually challenge convention - what we do matters. My passion goes beyond just seeking beauty, and instead aims to elevate the human experience as a whole.
Within this profile, and my work samples, you’ll find these values on display via a selection of projects organized from Public to Personal and a variety of professional and organizational experiences. It is my hope that they convey my desire to push boundaries, lead by example and to always find fun.
